Accessibility Statement
Brookside Payments is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability. We aim to improve usability and accessibility for all users and actively review our site as it evolves.
Accessibility standards
We strive to align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and continuously implement improvements as our website grows.
Measures we have taken
The following specific accessibility improvements have been implemented on this site:
- Skip navigation link — A “Skip to main content” link appears at the top of every page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass the navigation menu and jump directly to page content.
- Logo link label — The site logo includes an
aria-label(“Brookside Payments — Home”) so screen readers announce its destination rather than just “link.” - Keyboard focus indicators — All form fields on our contact and statement review pages display a visible blue outline when focused via keyboard, ensuring keyboard-only users can track their position.
- Form labels — Every form input has an explicit
<label>element tied to its field by ID, including accessible format descriptions on file upload fields. - Descriptive link text — Navigation cards and call-to-action links use
aria-labelattributes to provide meaningful context for screen reader users rather than generic “learn more” announcements. - Navigation button label — The mobile hamburger menu button includes
aria-label="Toggle navigation"andaria-expandedstate management. - Decorative icon handling — Emoji and decorative icons used in post metadata are marked with
aria-hidden="true"to prevent screen readers from announcing irrelevant characters. - Responsive layouts — All pages are designed to be usable across mobile and desktop screen sizes.
- Consistent page structure — Pages use semantic heading hierarchy (H1 → H2 → H3) and consistent landmark regions throughout.
Known limitations
Some third-party integrations — including our Cloudflare Turnstile spam protection widget — may not fully meet every accessibility requirement. We monitor these components and will address limitations where possible. Some older content may not yet reflect our current accessibility standards and is reviewed on an ongoing basis.
